The Last Spool of the Zwickauer Kammgarn Group
With the last spool, a piece of history comes to an end. A moment that moves us and brings us together.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, the final spool ran off the machine in the Coning, Winding and Twisting department. At 10:36 a.m., it was removed from Coner 4 by Anja Beyreiß, machine operator, and Sebastian Uhlig, shift supervisor. An unassuming hand movement, and yet a historic moment.
On January 20, 2026, the rewinding and packing departments ceased operations. This marked the end of production at the Wilkau-Haßlau site. In Miletín, Czech Republic, production was discontinued on January 23, 2026.
With the last spool, a chapter shaped by dedication, craftsmanship and team spirit comes to a close. At the same time, a new phase begins for many colleagues. Farewell and new beginnings are closely intertwined these days.
We are grateful for the many years of collaboration, for working side by side, for shared successes, challenges and solidarity. The last spool stands as a symbol of all that has been achieved and of the respect for what lies ahead. Managing Director Paul Schuschan sums it up clearly: “What has been accomplished here deserves recognition and appreciation. Through their commitment and attitude, the employees of ZKS have shaped more than 190 years of yarn expertise. Even though this chapter is coming to an end, our appreciation remains. We wish everyone new opportunities, perspectives and success for the future.”
We wish all employees all the very best and every success on their future paths.
